Dry Ice for transporting pharmaceutical products

Dry Ice is able to maintain the "cold chain" throughout the entire distribution chain, from production to end-user. In addition to optimum cold chain assurance, through excellent control of temperature and rapid temperature recovery after door/lid opening, Dry Ice also offers increased logistics flexibility, low or no noise, and is better for the environment.

Dry Ice is popular in the pharmaceutical industry because of its many benefits:

  • it has three times the refrigeration power of water ice
  • it sublimates without leaving any residue (i.e. no risk of soggy products)
  • it is non-toxic
  • it is non-flammable
  • it is tasteless and odourless
  • it provides extended cooling for the payload

Main applications are medical samples and pharmaceutical distribution

Dry Ice is commonly used to package biological samples (i.e. tissue, blood) and temperature-sensitive biomedical/pharmacological products during shipping.
